OceanPath Tech Co., Ltd. ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Virtual Pet mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. By using Virtual Pet, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Pet Name: A custom name you choose for your virtual pet. Stored locally on your device.
- User Title: How you want your pet to address you (e.g., Dad, Mom, Owner). Stored locally on your device.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Voice Data: When you use the voice interaction feature, your device's microphone captures audio. On iOS, speech recognition is performed on-device using Apple's Speech Framework and audio is not uploaded to external servers. On Android, audio may be processed through Google Speech Services, which may involve cloud-based processing subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Conversation History: The most recent messages in your conversation with your virtual pet are stored locally on your device to maintain conversation context.
- Interaction Statistics: We track daily and total interaction counts locally on your device to support app functionality.
- Language Preference: Your selected language setting is stored locally on your device.
1.3 Purchase Information
If you make in-app purchases or subscribe to premium features, purchase-related information (such as subscription status and transaction records) is processed and stored by our payment partner, RevenueCat. RevenueCat may also collect anonymous device identifiers for purchase management purposes.
1.4 Information We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect:
- Location data
- Photos, videos, or files from your device
- Contacts or address book information
- Email addresses, passwords, or account credentials (no account system exists)
- Health or fitness data
- Browsing history
- Advertising identifiers for ad targeting
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- Providing the Core Service: Your pet name, user title, and conversation history are sent to our AI service providers to generate personalized responses from your virtual pet.
- Speech Recognition: Voice data is processed to convert your speech to text for the conversation feature.
- Improving User Experience: Interaction statistics and language preferences are used locally to personalize your experience.
- Managing Purchases: Purchase information is used to manage your subscription status and unlock premium features.

4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage
Most of your data (pet name, user title, conversation history, interaction statistics, language preference) is stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences. This data is not synced to any cloud server and remains on your device.
4.2 Data in Transit
When data is sent to our AI service providers for conversation processing, it is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections to protect it during transfer.
4.3 Data Retention
- Local data remains on your device until you clear the app data or uninstall the App.
- Conversation data sent to AI service providers is used only for generating real-time responses and is not stored permanently by us.
- Purchase data managed by RevenueCat is retained according to RevenueCat's data retention policies.
4.4 Security Measures
We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all network communications
- Local-only storage for sensitive personal data
- No user account system, minimizing the risk of credential exposure
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access Your Data: You can view your pet name, user title, and interaction statistics within the App's settings.
- Delete Your Data: You can delete all locally stored data by clearing the App's data in your device settings or by uninstalling the App.
- Microphone Access: You can revoke microphone permission at any time through your device settings. The App will still function but the voice interaction feature will be unavailable.
- Opt Out of Purchases: You can manage or cancel subscriptions through your device's app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store).
6. European Economic Area (EEA) Users — GDPR
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
6.1 Legal Basis for Processing
- Consent: We process your voice data and conversation data based on your consent, which you provide by using the voice interaction feature.
- Contract Performance: We process data necessary to provide the App's core functionality (virtual pet interaction).
- Legitimate Interest: We process interaction statistics to improve the App experience.
6.2 Your GDPR Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectify inaccurate personal data
- Erase your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict the processing of your personal data
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it by clearing app data or uninstalling the App.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

8. Children's Privacy
Virtual Pet is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@oceanpathtech.com, and we will take steps to delete such information.
9. International Data Transfers
Your conversation data may be transferred to and processed by AI service providers located in different countries, including China (Alibaba Cloud DashScope, SiliconFlow). These transfers are necessary to provide the App's core conversation functionality.
For users in the EEA, we ensure that any international data transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including implementing appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses where required.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
